With last month's announcement of Walmart's plan to hire 100,000 veterans over the next decade combined with a suddenly-declining job market in Central Texas, Ft. Hood's ACAP (Army Career and Alumni Program) saw an opportunity.  Now, questions that had no answers in January have been answered.

ACAP's Tamara Brethouwer works to prepare veterans for civilian life and ease the transition to civilian employment.  As of the announcement by Walmart in January there were no confirmed answers as to how the hiring would affect Central Texas vets.  Brethouwer has now confirmed that Walmart will be part of ACAP's June 19th job fair.  The job fair will allow veterans or soon-to-be veterans to speak with a representative from Walmart and numerous additional employers about future employment.

In addition to the June 19th job fair featuring Walmart, ACAP will begin hosting weekly "mini" job fairs in which 10-15 employers will be on hand to speak with those transitioning into the civilian job market.  Monday, March 4th's job fair will feature numerous employers from different civilian sectors.

Be sure to visit ACAP's Facebook page for complete information about upcoming events and for further assistance.
