Student in critical condition after shooting self at Temple HS
A lockdown at Temple High School has ended after a student suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Temple police said no one else was injured in Tuesday's incident and no other students were in danger when the 15 year old boy shot himself near the Supply School. The boy was listed in critical condition at Scott & White hospital.
Students and teachers witnessed the scene as they arrived for class Tuesday morning.
"I believe there were a few witnesses, both students and teachers alike," Temple ISD spokesperson Brad Sheffield told WOAI, "It was on the exterior of the school at a place where students were arriving."
Temple High was placed on a “soft” lockdown, which means students can move from class to class, but cannot leave the building as exits are locked. The lockdown lasted about two hours.
